I am inspired to create because when I am using multiple references from life to create a work, I know whatever I create will not be an exact representation of what the original object is. It is my own interpretation and view on the world. I cherish this quality of individuality. As a child, I always wondered why people were not able to view each other’s dreams upon waking. I feel that by working in the methods I use, I can share my thoughts, dreams and nightmares with others. I always start my work off with lots of graphite sketches, then sometimes develop some of those sketches into finished drawings. Painting over these drawings with either watercolor, oil, or by putting them into a digital program gives my work character and makes it more tangible . I enjoy using color to convey mood, and tone. The potential results of my work push me to create.
As a child, I never liked to sketch as my drawings were never up to par with what I wanted them to be. They never portrayed what I wanted them to, and they lacked skill. Taking art classes helped me to become disciplined enough to develop making what I imagined a reality.
